I don’t really take the tumblr platform to talk, but here we go.
More homes, businesses and restaurants have been red tagged today. There is roughy $300 million in damage in just homes alone and approximately $4 billion that needs to be raised for my hometown, THE Napa Valley, to rebuild.
I know people who have lost everything. People whose homes have been red tagged and they cannot find housing because many who have come for the harvest season are currently occupying those spaces. I know people who have lost their animals—-hundreds of LOST signs all over town. I know people whose family members (and one horse that I know of) suffered from heart attacks at the time of the quake and passed away. The list goes on, but basically, people need a lot of help. People assume Napa is filled with the fortunate who will bounce back, but that is not the case. We have people from all walks of life and economic backgrounds who this has affected—-everyone needs the help—-AND the quake also hit Vallejo, although not as tremendously as downtown Napa, and they need $4 million to rebuild…you know, a city that declared bankrupcy in the last few years.
If you live in the area, come to these wineries and restaurants who are trying to start fresh. Come support these local businesses in the Napa, Sonoma and Solano Counties.
